The Prairie Spirit

In the spirit of the Prairie, the Farmstead is an active farm environment that provides, new connected experiences. Two homes sit on the Farmstead, but all residents can engage.

Care farming offers a variety of options for residents who like to stay busy. There are therapeutic farm animals such as a mini pig, dwarf goats, and chickens for our residents to connect with in ways that may be difficult with other people.  A large vegetable and sensory garden provides a calming and interactive setting for our residents to enjoy.  Because we believe that quality of life for residents begins with engagement, for those who enjoy the outdoors, love animals, or perhaps have farming in their past, the quality of life available at The Prairie Farmstead is unsurpassed.

Our mission of giving back community, connection, and control is taken a step further at the Farmstead.  With engaging activities for the entire family, visits become an interactive experience, rather than a chore.  Visiting your loved one and checking the chicken coop for eggs, sitting by the koi pond,  or taking a goat for a walk provides purpose and new ways of connecting.  Setting a new standard for creating a life worth living for our elders living with dementia, The Prairie Farmstead brings the best of the farm experience to the suburbs of south Overland Park.

Farmstead West

The Farmstead Homes are mirror images of one another and were designed by Michala and Mandy for this special purpose. Farm West has a traditional style, with a beautiful granite island. Residents have especially enjoyed the front and back porches at our West house. Residents also enjoy our walking paths, koi pond, picnic area, and all of the great outdoor amenities the Farmstead has to offer. If you are in the area and hear a great sing-along, it is likely coming from our West house!

Farmstead East

The Farmstead Homes are mirror images of one another and were designed by Michala and Mandy for this special purpose. Farm East is decorated with a fun modern farmhouse vibe. It is the house where you will find the residents sharing coffee and sweets around the kitchen table while watching our farm animal shenanigans. With two house cats, Pumpkin and Spice, and goats and pigs right at the backyard fence, our East house is for our animal lovers.

Animals

Therapeutic farm animals such as a mini pig, dwarf goats, and chickens allow for a connection people can't provide.

Nothing brings purpose to life like being outdoors on a farm.
