Passion and commitment is our homes’ foundations

Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. Our homes are managed and run by Mandy and Michala, two women committed to continuous learning and seeking the most proven, best practices used to care for and engage people living with dementia. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

Two Prairie Elder Homes NOW OPEN in South Overland Park!  Follow us on Facebook to watch our progress.

Prairie Elder Homes Offer Residential Memory Care Second to None

Prairie Elder Homes offer care that is second to none—a bold statement, but one you can believe.  Here, we strive to fill our residents’ days with meaningful activities matched to their interests and functional level. Activities focus on creating positive feelings of accomplishment.  The memory of the activity may quickly fade, but the positive feelings last much longer—something that is overlooked at so many memory care facilities today.

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only eight residents, and we consider it their home.  Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual.  We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle.

Every resident is unique. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too.

One of the unique features you will find in a Prairie Elder Home is the snoezelen approach to sensory therapy.  Every residential memory care home includes a room dedicated to creating a therapeutic multi-sensory environment.   This approach is used to both calm those who may be agitated or restless, and to alert or awaken those who are withdrawn.

Schedule a visit to come see our sensory room!  It’s wonderful and our families love the impact it has on our residents.

  • "My Mom is one of the first two residents at the new Prairie Elder Home. On her behalf, I thank the Prairie Elder Care staff for being so compassionate and proficient. I can't think of enough superlative adjectives to describe them!"

    Annette, Boca Raton, FL

"Describing the attention, care, and love at Prairie Elder Care is both easy and hard. It would be easy to quantify how hard the staff works… consistently nurturing day in and day out. It would be hard to describe the passion that Mandy and Michala have for what they are doing. This was a hands on group of caregivers, from the top… down. I saw this personally because I was there nearly every day for the six months they cared for my Mom. My trust in Prairie Elder Care was reaffirmed."

    Trish Frederiksen, Overland Park, KS
